BLANC DE MORGEX

BLANC DE MORGEX

Synonyms: Blanc de Valdigne, Blanc de la Salle.

Historical Notes: of uncertain origins, although some experts believe it to have come from nearby Vallese. Today it is believed to have come from the region of Valle D'Aosta. The first mention of its existence dates back to 1838. It is one of the few grape varieties that has not been damaged by Phylloxera.

Characteristics: small to medium-sized leaf, with five-lobes and a light green upper surface. A medium-sized cluster, fairly compact, cylindrical-conical in shape, usually with a side bunch. The berries are small and round with a thin skin, intense straw-yellow in color, transparent, with a light bloom. This grape is extremely resistant to cold and other climatic adversities, and is therefore very well-suited to notably high elevations, up to 1,000 meters above sea level. This is owing to its relatively brief growing cycle.

Vigor: medium.

Productiveness: good but variable.

Maturation: first epoch, late August to early September.

BOSCO

BOSCO

Synonyms: Bosco Bianco, Bosco Bianco del Genovesato, Uva Bosco, Madea.

Historical Notes: there is no conclusive proof of this grape variety's origins, but it would seem that it is indigenous to the region of Liguria. It was then cultivated in Riomaggiore by a certain Bonfiglio, who most likely picked cuttings from a forest belonging to the Durazzo Marquises of Genoa.
